Recife’s neighborhoods

The neighborhoods of Recife, Santo Antônio, São José and Boa Vista, are located in the central part of the city, close to the meeting of the Capibaribe and Beberibe rivers, are connected by bridges and gave rise to Recife.

Recife has an area of 210 square kilometers, which corresponds to 0.2% of the territorial extension of the State of Pernambuco.

 

Its growth took place from the center to the periphery, where at the time there were several mills, such as Madalena, Torre, Cordeiro, Várzea, Apipucos, Dois Irmãos, Casa Forte, Belém, Monteiro and, later, some places like Pina, Coelhos, Manguinhos, Hawthorn, among others.

According to the 2010 Demographic Census, carried out by the IBGE Foundation - Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, Recife has a population of 1,536,934 residents, spread over 94 neighborhoods, namely:
