It is located in the municipality of Gameleira, near Ribeirão. It was founded on the Amaragi plantation, owned by João Siqueira, in 1891. The name Estreliana was in honour of his mother, who was called Estrela.
From 1891 to 1943, the factory had the following owners: João Wanderley de Siqueira & Brothers, João Lopes de Siqueira Santos and Pompeu de Carvalho Soares Brandão.
In 1929 it had the capacity to process 400 tonnes of sugarcane and produce 1,500 litres of ethanol in 22 hours. It had a railway of 26km, 4 locomotives, 62 wagons, and the transportation of sugar and ethanol was by the Great Western line. In the milling period around 150 were employed at the factory.
In 1943 the factory was purchased by José Lopes de Siqueira Santos, who remained in charge of the factory until 1981, when he passed away in a car accident in Recife. The factory was then sold to the Fernando Maranhão Group.
Today its capacity is 6,000 tonnes of milled sugarcane in 24 hours and a production of over one million sacks of sugar per harvest.
