To experience Recife, a few hours’ walk is not enough, but a real collusion between the visitor and the nature to be beheld.

The Boa Viagem district is located in the southern part of the city of Recife. It is a neighborhood with an area of 753 hectares and inhabited by 122,922 residents, according to the 2010 demographic census of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

The municipality of Recife has 94 districts, which are distributed in six political-administrative regions (RPA). The district of Campina do Barreto is located in RPA-02, in Northern Recife.

It got that name because it had no trees and formed a vast, flat field. It was there, taking advantage of the area’s topography, the people of Recife built the Campo Grande Racecourse.

Capibaribe or Caapiuar-y-be or Capibara-ybe (or ipe), comes from the Tupi language meaning river of the capybara, or wild pigs.
