Recife Central Station

In the mid-19th century (1850-1856) the terminal of the Northeast Railway Network was built, and it was called Estação Central [Central Station]. This construction is on the left bank of the Capibaribe River and in front of the current House of Culture on Floriano Peixoto Street.

São José (St Joseph) Sugarcane Factory

Situated in the municipality of Igarassu, it was founded by Joaquim Coelho Leite and José Joaquim Coelho Pereira Leite, who in 1891 received permission from the State of Pernambuco to build a factory, giving it the name Coelho (Rabbit). It milled for the first time in 1906.

School of Arts and Crafts Collection

Created by the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios do Recife (Recife School of Arts and Crafts), this collection began from an art gallery inaugurated at the School in 1887, which was later transformed into the institution’s art museum.
