The Museum of Ceará was the first public museum in Ceará. Created in 1932, it was initially operated by the State Public Archive and later by the Ceará Historic, Geographic and Anthropological Institute, until 1966.

The Museum of Rubber is located in the city of Rio Branco, the capital of the state of Acre, in the North region of Brazil.

The Museum of Sugar, envisioned by Gil de Methódio Maranhão, was created on 3 August 1960, by Resolution 1745 of the Institute of Sugar and Alcohol – IAA.

The ‘Museu do Homem do Nordeste’ (Museum of the Northeast Man), created in 1979, unites the archives of three other museums: the Museum of Anthropology, of the former Joaquim Nabuco Institute for Social Research (IJNPS), the current Joaquim Nabuco Foundation, inaugurated in 1965.

The State Museum of Pernambuco (MEP) was created on 24 August 1928, through State Law No. 1918. The law was pioneering in Northeast Brazil and in the country itself, and authorised the governor Estácio Coimbra to create the State Inspectorate of Monuments and a Historical and Ancient Art Museum.
