Located in the current municipality of Pombos (formerly the district of Vitória de Santo Antão), it was founded in 1918 under the name of Santa Pânfila, by João Correia de Queiroz.
The name was a tribute to the founder's mother-in-law and wife (both had that name), being, respectively, the daughter and granddaughter of the Viscount of Utinga (Henrique Marques Lins).
In 1944, it was transformed into the Nossa Senhora do Carmo Plant.
Its owners were Colonel Feliciano do Rego Cavalcanti de Albuquerque, Manoel Antonio Santos Dias (Cileno), João Pessoa de Queiroz and family, João Pessoa de Queiroz and his brother Romeu Pessoa Pessoa de Queiroz, Jorge Dantas Bastos and Gustavo Colaço, Gustavo Colaço and sons.
In 1990, the company was sold to José Aristóphanes Pereira, Hendrik da Costa Oliveira and Manoel Octaviano Colaço Dias.
The plant is currently deactivated.
