The construction date of the Chapel of Apipucos is unknown. What is known, through documents, is that it already existed, in the same place it can be found today, in 1645, under the invocation of Our Lady Mother of God, and then of Our Lady of Sorrows.

The church of Our Lady of the Pillar, located in Nossa Senhora do Pilar Square in the neighbourhood of Recife, was built in 1680 on the foundations of the Fort São Jorge [St George]. The main chapel of the temple has the shape of a semi-spherical vault and is lined with very rare Portuguese tiles.

Located in the Boa Vista neighbourhood, the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary of Boa Vista was built by the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Rosary of Black Men.

The small church of Our Lady of the Rosary, located in the traditional Pátio do Terço [Rosary Courtyard] in the district of São José, is between the streets Rua Direita and Rua das Águas Verdes. It looks like an “ironing board”, some say: tall and slender, like a steeple, and with one tower only.

Built on the same street as the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, the Church of Santa Cecilia, under the invocation of St Cecilia – a Roman martyr and patron saint of musicians – is located at the beginning of Rua da Conceição street in the Boa Vista neighbourhood.
