The first public parks in Brazil were influenced by European landscape artists. They were mirrored on the models of the beautiful French and English gardens, which sought to value the regional flora and ensure a better quality of life for people.
The history of the Park dates back to the foundation of the Dois Irmãos Forest Garden, when in the first half of the 19th century the land where the neighbourhood of Dois Irmãos is today belonged to the Apipucos Plantation, founded in 1577 and owned by the brothers.
The Parque Theatre was built by a Portuguese merchant, Comendador Bento Luís de Aguiar, who invested two hundred (200) contos de réis, and was inaugurated by the Companhia Portuguesa de Operetas e Revistas do Teatro Avenida [Avenida Theatre’s Portuguese Company of Operettas and Reviews].
