The Church of Our Lady of the Conception of the Military is located on the street Rua Nova in the Santo Antônio neighbourhood, right in the heart of Recife.
Located on the hill of the Seminary of Olinda and connected to the former Seminary, the Church of Our Lady of Grace was built in wood and clay by the Grantee Duarte Coelho in 1551.
Located in Largo do Amparo, in Olinda, the Church of Our Lady of Amparo was built in 1613 by the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Amparo of the Black Men. Curiously, its members wore a black habit with a white hood.
According to chroniclers, Duarte Coelho, the first Grantee of Pernambuco, had a small temple dedicated to Our Lady of the Mount erected in wood and clay on the grounds of Olinda Hill.
The church of Our Lady of the Pillar, located in Nossa Senhora do Pilar Square in the neighbourhood of Recife, was built in 1680 on the foundations of the Fort São Jorge [St George]. The main chapel of the temple has the shape of a semi-spherical vault and is lined with very rare Portuguese tiles.
