The Pernambuco writer Osman da Costa Lins, son of Teófanes da Costa Lins and Maria da Paz de Mello Lins, was born in the city of Vitória de Santo Antão on 5 July 1924. His mother died from complications of the birth when Osman was only 16 days old.
